Ralph Beyer (1921-2008) was a letter carver and sculptor who was commissioned to carve nave inscriptions for the new Coventry Cathedral built between the mid-1950s and 1962. He is seen here carving the baptismal font out of a large boulder which had been shipped from Bethlehem, referred to as the Boulder from Bethlehem when it was unveiled on its arrival at the cathedral in 1960
