Known for his groundbreaking explorations of northern Siberia and the Arctic, Urvantsev's contributions to earth sciences are immeasurable. With a distinguished career that spanned decades, Urvantsev's achievements include the exploration of the Norilsk coal basin from 1919 to 1922, expeditions to the islands of Severnaya Zemlya between 1931 and 1933, and leading the steamship Pravda oil exploration expedition from 1933 to 1934.
