Philippe Auguste Jeanron was a French sculptor and painter born in 1851. He studied under the renowned sculptor, Augustin Dumont, and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was an active member of the Salon des Artistes Français from 1877 to 1895. His works were mainly sculptures, but he also created paintings and drawings. His sculptures were often classical in style with mythological themes such as Apollo or Diana, but he also created more modern works such as his sculpture of a woman playing a guitar for the Exposition Universelle of 1889. His paintings were mainly landscapes and portraits which showed his skillful use of light and color. Philippe Auguste Jeanron's work is still admired today for its beauty and craftsmanship.
