Anniversary of the death of British statesman and prime minister Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, who died on the 19th April 1881.Disraeli was so popular that in 1883 an organisation within the Conservatives was formed, called the Primrose league to commemorate his death. The primrose was his favourite flower and Queen Victoria would often send him bunches of them from Windsor and Osborne House. Date: 19th April 1886
