Assembled Tea Service, 1806/7. Creator: Paul Storr
Assembled Tea Service, 1806/7. The sturdy, rounded shapes of the four vessels in this tea service, including a teapot, hot water jug, sugar bowl, and cream jug, were probably inspired by the forms of ancient Roman oil lamps. English silversmith Storr decorated several of the handles with acanthus leaves, a motif also adopted from classical antiquity. The service sits on an oblong tray made by William Bennett, inscribed with the Latin motto facta non verba, meaning "deeds, not words."

**Assembled Tea Service: A Masterpiece of English Craftsmanship**
This exquisite Assembled Tea Service (1806/7), crafted by renowned silversmith Paul Storr, is a testament to the artistry and attention to detail that defined England's applied arts during the 19th century. The sturdy, rounded forms of the four vessels - teapot, hot water jug, sugar bowl, and cream jug - are reminiscent of ancient Roman oil lamps, while delicate acanthus leaves adorn several handles.
The service sits majestically on an oblong tray inscribed with the Latin motto "facta non verba," meaning "deeds, not words." This phrase serves as a poignant reminder that true greatness lies in action rather than mere declarations. The tea set's harmonious balance of form and function makes it a masterpiece of English craftsmanship.
